Regarding Announcements and Spam

Clearly, spambots (some more disturbing than others) love these announcement threads. As a result, my fellow Moderators and I have been forced to lock every single topic in the section.

In order to discourage further bot postings, you may notice that this post is also locked. From now on, when I post an announcement, the thread will be immediately locked.

For discussion purposes, a separate thread will be created in the general discussion area titled as such: "Discussion: (Title of Announcement Thread)".

If you are a Mod/CD/Jay, and are reading this, please go to the discussion thread for this announcement and post your thoughts on this strategy. Non-staff members are, of course, also welcome to discuss it.
