Sonic Robo Blast 2 - Single Player Trailer

I'm sure a lot of you already know about Sonic Robo Blast 2 (or SRB2). If you don't, then... I'm too lazy to explain it, so look at www.srb2.org.

I declare this the official SRB2 Discussion Topic for Green Groove Zone! *shot*

So, how many of you play SRB2, and what do you think of it?

I played it once or twice.
It wasn't that great. Kinda weird. And too hard to figure out where the hell you're supposed to go.

Greenflower and Techno Hill are aged, and it shows, so it's a bit confusing. But the zones after that are easier to navigate. Besides, the areas are supposed to be open enough to explore. That's part of the point, heh.

I still think it's pretty damn good, but that might be because I've played a number of the mods, too. Then again, that trailer makes it look even more pretty damn good. And that's just the Single-Player So I would expect a healthy amount of pretty damn good-ity

There's supposed to be a multiplayer trailer in the future, and if it ever gets made I'll post it too.

As for the multiplayer modes, there's:

-Co-op: Play through the Single-Player levels with other people!
-Match: Typical first-person shooter, with a Sonic twist. You use weapon rings to attack.
-CTF: Uses the same system as match, but in a CTF fashion.
-Tag: This, again, uses the Match style of gameplay, but here you try and tag people.
-Hide-and-Seek: A version of tag. Basically the same, except here you hide in an allotted amount of time and cannot move until you are found or the round ends.
-Race: Here you race around on a circuit.
-Classic Race: Instead of being based on who finishes first, this is more focused on who wins the most categories, such as Monitors Broken and Rings Collected. Usually used with Single-Player levels.

There's a set of levels for different gametypes. Match, Tag, and Hide-and-Seek use the stages made for Match. CTF uses its own set of levels. Race has its own set of levels too.

I personally like Hide-and-Seek, Match, and Coop the best.

Finally, a 3D Sonic platformer that doesn't look like it sucks. Although the low-ceilings and wonky depth perception kinda throws you off.

Sega should look into this. =B Moving forward hasn't done them too many favors, moving backwards might not hurt.

"As a word for those people who like rediculously specied characters with magic powers, try looking around the earth for cooler looking animals. Instead of making your character multicoloured foxes, try drawing a rat or even really exotic things like oryxes. They also don't need powers to be interesting. They just need quirks and personalities of their own."

The game's only 12 years old you know. =P

It doesn't have many low-ceiling areas actually, most have plenty of room. And the depth was never really a problem for me.

EDIT: www.srb2.org is back up from maintenence.

I recall there being Sonic Riders and Invader Zim wads; along with a Ghoul's Forest one, which is admittedly a little less friendly, even if it is really fun

There were, for version 1.09. When SRB2 got updated to version 2.0, all the old wads ans socs became incompatible. But there's still plenty of great addons available.
